Indian-origin advocate Vijay Shanker will become a judge in the Supreme Court of the US capital, Washington DC, after the Senate approval of President Donald Trump’s decision.
Trump has nominated advocate Vijay Shankar as an associate judge in the District Court of Appeals in Columbia. His term will be for 15 years after Senate approval on the appointment of Advocate Vijay Shankar.
Vijay Shankar will replace the recently retired John R. Fisher. The District Court of Appeals of Columbia is the highest court in Washington DC. Vijay Shankar was nominated by President Donald Trump in June last year.
He is currently serving as the Litigation Council in the Crime Division of the Department of Justice. Vijay Shankar used to practice privately before joining the Justice Department. Vijay Shankar is a law graduate from Duke University. Next he attended the Virginia School of Law.
