Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone call with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka on Saturday. In this discussion, the two leaders addressed the consequences of the Corona crisis on the health and economic fields.

Prime Minister Modi told the President of Sri Lanka that India will continue to provide all necessary assistance to Sri Lanka to reduce the effects of the epidemic. During the talks, President Rajapaksa also informed about the steps taken by the government to start economic activities in Sri Lanka.

The two leaders decided during the talks to step up the projects being operated in Sri Lanka in partnership with India, according to the report.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also talked about the possibilities of India’s private sector to increase investment in Sri Lanka, as well as with the people of the neighboring country well and their healthy lives. PM Modi assured the Sri Lankan President that India would continue all assistance to Sri Lanka to mitigate the effects of Corona.

During the talks, the two leaders also stressed the need to expedite development projects in Sri Lanka with India’s help. I also shared thoughts about the epidemic and its effects. It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been discussing the Corona crisis and its effects from world leaders from time to time.

Presently, India is providing medicines and doctors services to all the countries of the world. So far more than 1600 cases of corona infection have been reported in Sri Lanka and nine people have died.
