Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has said the lockdown measures put in place to stop coronavirus spread have stifled the economy. He said the country’s economy was suffocating because of the lockdown.
Referring to the restrictions imposed by some states and municipalities, he said people were losing their lives without wage employment. He said some politicians have forced a curfew on the economy, the lockdown has killed people.
President Bolsonaro’s statement comes at a time when the Brazilian economy is expected to shrink by 6.4% this year. Which will be affected by the epidemic.
