Britain on Thursday organized the Virtual Global Vaccine Conference-2020 to raise $ 7.4 billion to help with global vaccine supply and vaccination. Representatives, businessmen, UN agencies, civil society, government ministers, heads of state and leaders from more than 50 countries participated in it.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed on behalf of India to help the ‘Gavi’ Vaccine Alliance save eight million lives over the next five years. Gavi’s regular vaccination efforts help prevent the spread of infectious diseases and prevent the emergence of other epidemics.

If the coronavirus develops a safe and effective vaccine, ‘Gavi’ will also play a role in its worldwide supply. Accessing the vaccine worldwide will ensure collective-level improvement in people’s health.

High Commissioner in charge of Britain in India Jain Thompson said he was happy to hear from Prime Minister Modi his message about the strong support and importance of global solidarity. He said India ‘s potential to manufacture vaccines at a low cost and scientific skills will play a very important role in this.

The conference was also addressed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres via a video message. The conference’s highlight was that raising $7.4 billion was planned, but a pledge was created to send $8.8 billion from various members.
