Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Monday that the city would be under lockdown from 10 pm tonight to 6 am next Monday. The city is facing the fourth wave of Covid-19, according to the chief minister, and drastic steps would be needed to prevent the health system from collapsing.
“Necessary programs, such as food service and medical care, will continue. Weddings may be conducted with as few as 50 guests, and passes will be given separately.
India is still fighting the deadly Coronavirus, with Maharashtra adding more than 2000 people new infections every minute, according to data analysis.
According to the information, 2859 people are contracting Covid-19 every minute and one person succumbs to the novel virus every third minute on average, reported the news agency.
Maharashtra has been witnessing an unabated surge in cases for the past few weeks. The state was found to have reported 68,631 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of Covid cases to about 38,39,338.
On Sunday, Tamil Nadu reported 10,694 COVID-19 positive cases, taking the state’s total covid-19 case 9,91,451. Chennai registered 3304 positive cases, taking the total number of cases in the city to 2,83,436. On Sunday, 42 people died in the state, bringing the total death toll to 13,113. Following surgery, a total of 5925 patients were discharged, bringing the total number of patients who recovered to 9,07,947.
According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 2,73,810 new Covid-19 cases and 1,619 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total cases in the country now stand at 1,50,61,919.
There are currently 19,29,329 active cases in the country, with 1,29,53,821 people have recovered. 1,78,769 people have died. Vaccinations have been given to a total of 12,38,52,566 people.
